 Yes, here it is....the first installment in Wal-Mart's attempt to make itself a little more upscale.... a little more appealing to the younger women crowd. Basically, a little more like Target. Not a bad idea since everyone I know loves Target for their clothes and consumables. But can adding a new line of stylish clothing solve Wal-Mart's problems? My guess is no!
However, it is an attempt and well....you never know. The line itself is actually is quite stylish. It definitely has a more urban, kind of sexy feel - lots of silk camis, embellished tunics, wrap sweaters, jeans, etc. in sizes ranging from 2 to 26W/28W. All at really great prices, of course. All aimed at getting the 25-45 women to shop for clothes while they are shopping for food & other consumables. They are so fired up about the whole deal they're featuring Metro 7 ads in the November issue of Vogue. I don't know....that seems like a bit of stretch.
Anyway, Wal-Mart needs a boost, especially for this demographic, so this is their first move. I for one think it should have been to clean up the damn stores, but what do I know. It just seems to me that it will be difficult to sell fashionable, stylish clothing in an overcrowded, not so pleasant feeling & smelling atmosphere. But maybe that's just me.
Oh, I am sure somewhere out there has an opinion about this one. I would love to hear it. |
