If you like a good warm boot that's still very stylish, try Uggs.  I have the rugged sheepskin style and I love them.  I throw them on with my jeans, add my outerwear, and away I go - warm as toast. 
 
They have other styles too - the sheepskin which has been popular for awhile now and the new Starburst or Rockstar style (depending on where you get them) that seem to be all the rage this year.  Oprah even loves them.  She had the Uptown style on her list of favorite things.  And lucky for you......they are all on sale online at Hanna Andersson....well except the Uptown that is.
 
So check them out.....even go and try them on at a local department store and figure out your exact size and then order a pair online.  Odds are you'll save a bunch and you'll get a great pair of boots to boot. 
 
And if you're feeling generous you can get a pair for your kids.  They're on sale too.

I would agree with you.....sort of. They really aren't me either, but the black leather & sheepskin style is a little easy to take. PLUS they are so easy to throw on to run errands in and they keep my feet so darn warm it is hard to resist.
