 Shopbop started as a bricks-and-mortar store in Madison, Wisconsin in 1999, but became a leading online retailer when they started selling their high end women's fashions such as Juicy Couture, Seven For All Mankind, Chip & Pepper, Marc Jacobs and many, many more online. They've been written up in Lucky magazine, Elle, Glamour, Vogue, you name it. Very successful. I'm telling you, if you love high end fashion this is the place to get it online. They carry just about everything imaginable.
According to CNET News.com, the Shopbop site itself will continue to run as a stand alone site- just as it does now and the company will continue to be based in Madison, Wisconsin - just as it is now. The only difference is that it will be owed by Amazon.com and become part of their online apparel store.
Congrats to the people at Shopbop. It's always nice to see a fellow start-up and Madisonian do well. |
