Giddy up girlfriends! The western look is in.
Friday, August 11, 2006
Perfect way to spice up your fall wardrobe - add a little leopard send to a friend Ballet flats - so much for trendy.
The western look is traditionally a more casual look - the plaid shirts with shoulder yokes and pearlized snap buttons, left untucked and paired up with jeans and boots.  But it's not necessarily the only option thank heavens.  For a more updated look throw on a pair of high heeled clogs.  For a more stylish option try a fitted plaid shirt, rock 'in jeans, and great strappy heels.  And for work a western style shirt with your pencil skirt or tailored pants.  A little unexpected and a whole lotta fun.

Here are a few options for when you want to go more country chic than cowboy.....

This long sleeve denim shirt from Banana is great.  Very low key western, but still enough kick to spice up a plain
    skirt or pants.

And since nothing screams cowboy like horses, this graphic tee from J.Crew is perfect.

Or how about a pair of flat boots with a denim skirt and sweater.  The Jackson leather boot from J.Crew is
gorgeous and if you want to kick it up just a notch try the Alberta boot by Matisse.  Very fun.

And don't forget about a belt.  J.Crew has a great one with a plaque buckle or a stitched suede one.  Both are
very fun and, when paired with a plain tee and jeans, it's an easy breezy way to go country.

But remember you don't want to go overboard here.  Just a piece will do.  Have fun!
