The games that department stores play

It's a family tradition in my house. Everyone sitting around the kitchen table after Thanksgiving dinner scouring the ads and clipping the coupons for Friday's big shopping trip. After this year though, I may have to reconsider. At least the clipping coupons part.
Don't get me wrong. These coupons are very tempting. The thought of being able to save an additional 20% is very appealing. Even if it means just enough to buy yourself a "little something sweet" as my mother would say, after a hard day of shopping. But the reality of it is that they make these coupons so complicated to figure out not to mention restricting that anything you might want to really save money on doesn't qualify anyway.
Now I know this isn't always true. There are some good deals to be had, but in my opinion the effort required to find them is sometimes not worth it. I mean, why can't an additional 30% off really mean an additional 30% off? It did when I went to Gap.

What a bummer. Luckily the only thing I encountered were long lines and difficulty finding parking, but these are to be expected. Although, I must say that it wasn't too terrible, since I tried to avoid the early crowd rush. My sister said that she had to wait 40 minutes at Kohl's on Friday in LaCrosse to buy a pair of jeans. Better her than me I guess. I actually do a lot of my shopping online, since I can often find free or reduced shipping. It makes it a lot easier, particularly when you live away from family and you'd have to ship the gifts anyway. Happy Shopping!
