Finding the perfect shoes - not always an easy task
Thursday, November 30, 2006
Online shopping just keeps getting better and better. send to a friend Get ready for some serious online shopping
I'm mixing and matching a bunch of grey, black, blue and aubergine for Christmas and I'm looking for the perfect pair of shoes to go with them.  And while black may be the obvious choice I was hoping to shake things up just a bit.  I'm thinking a lovely heel in the color aubergine would be just the ticket.  Problem is I'm having one heck of a time finding one.  And we all know how important shoes are to the outfit.  Seriously, you could be wearing nothing but a paper bag, but the minute you top if off with some great looking shoes you've got yourself a winner.

Unfortunately, I still can't find those perfect shoes.  However, I have found some great places to shop for shoes online.  So if you're still looking for shoes for the holidays you might want to check them out.  And if you happen to stumble upon a fantastic pair in an aubergine, wine, sort of burgundy color, be sure to send me an email.

Here are a few of my favorite places to find great shoes all year round.

  • Nordstrom is probably my favorite.  I love the selection - big, but not too big that it's overwhelming, $5 flat rate shipping everyday, and the I love when you "view larger" you get a super clear, nice and big picture of the shoes.  How cool is that?
  • Macy's is another great spot to find shoes.  Great selection and good sales keep me coming back for more.
  • For a nice range in prices and styles, Piperlime is a site to check out as well.  Plus you get free shipping and returns everyday.  Very nice.
  • And for the occasional splurge or even just for fun you have to check out the shoes at J.Crew.  They always have such interesting and totally original styles to choose from.
Enjoy!

I agree, Nordstrom's has a nice selection of shoes and it's easy to navigate through their selection by brand, style, or bestseller. I found a few at Nordstrom's that you may have seen and if not, you may want to check them out: Linea Paolo "Lee" Pump in Vermillion Red $84.95, Calvin Klein "Valencia" Pump in Bordeaux Patent $109.95, and the Franco Sarta "Renata" in Red/Crimson for $84.95. All the these shoes come in different colors, but I listed my favs that would easily jazz up any outfit.

Zappos, Shoebuy and Online shoes are also great sources for online buying.

I always shop shoes.com. Their prices seem to always be lower than zappos. I've also bought from 6pm.com, which also has free shipping/returns like shoes.com and zappos. Onlineshoes does not.

J.Crew has some very nice flats in aubergine which are on sale.
