Back to school means new backpacks for the kids.  Why not pick up a new handbag for yourself.  The good news is everyone and their brother seems to be making them these days, so you're bound to find a few that fit your style and your budget.  And while you can never go wrong with a classic designer in a classic style, there are a few trends for fall you might want to consider. 

Patent leather is huge in shoes and in handbags.  You could go a little crazy and pick up this totally gorgeous Burberry quilted patent leather Beaton bag or show a bit more restraint and go with this Ergo patent leather hobo from Coach.  But if you're looking to do something super duper, carry one season and forget about it cheap, check out the faux patent leather hobo with lock & key handbag at your local Express store.  It's just $39.50 and it was featured in the September issue of People Style Watch. 

Faux croc is big this season too.  The Devi Kroell for Target line has a couple to choose from at really great prices.  The Banana Republic Filmore faux-snakeskin satchel is a great option as well.    

And if you like your look to include something with a bit more kick, try a handbag with studs like this one from Michael Kors.  Ooh la la.

Don't like those options.  No worries.  Go with a solid color hobo bag, satchel or the trendy clutch and you'll be good to go looking oh so fabulous for fall.
