How about a little plum to spice things up a bit

Here's another great color that is making waves this fall - plum.  Not as dark as traditional burgundy or wine.  But it's not straight up purple either.  It's a nice mix really and whole lot of fun for fall.  There's plum colored tshirts, sweaters, skirts and more.  And it looks smashing paired with something black, grey plaid, even denim.  Very fun.

It's all about Lands' End for Episode 8 of The Savvies Show

Fall is definitely upon us my friends.  Time to put away the flip flops and shorts and make room in our closets for sweaters, pants, and closed toe shoes.  And what better place to find them than Lands' End.  So for Episode 8 we did a little shopping online at Landsend.com to find some classic pieces, as well as a few trendy ones, that would be absolutely perfect for fall.

Another trend for fall - the military look

Here's a trend I'm on the fence about for fall - the military look.  You know, the stand up collars, shiny buttons, and lots of extras look.  I've seen some super cute short jackets and long coats for winter.  Skirts and crop pants too.  But I'm still not sure I'm ready to take the plunge.  Call me crazy.  But how many trends can one season have and with some many others to choose from I may have to sit this one out.

Everyone's mad for plaid I tell you

Plaid is back my friends.  Not that it ever went completely out of style, but this year it seems to be popping up everywhere.  Including the "must have" lists of many magazines and stylists.  Though I'm not sure I agree with the "must have" part, it is an easy way to put a little zip into your work wardrobe as well as your casual one.

Long sleeve tees are a must for fall

With the whole layering thing going on this fall/winter a long sleeve tee, or a few for that matter, is a must.  Go with a classic crewneck or vneck, or maybe a henley or thermal tee and layer it under a polo, or lightweight sweater and even a dress.  But definitely get yourself a few for fall.  You'll be glad you did.

A great cardigan is just the ticket for fall

If you haven't noticed already cardigans are everywhere for fall in just about every style imaginable.  There are long and lean ones.  Chunky ones too.  Hooded ones, belted ones, and even the good old traditional ones.  Lots of options for sure.  First on my list - something a bit less traditional, casual enough for everyday, and definitely stylish.      (1 comment posted)

Belts are still in my friends - here's a few ways to wear them

Yes, belts are still in like Flynn and it's not just the wide ones.  It's the skinny ones and the in between ones too.  Western looking ones and woven ones as well.  Lots of options I tell you.  Pair over your favorite jacket and even with a dress.  Or just simply in the belt loops of your favorite pants or jeans.  Get yourself a belt and get creative.  You'll be glad you did.

This season it's all about a great pair of shorts

Last fall it was cropped pants.  This year it's all about a great pair of shorts.  Plaid or plain, wool or cotton, cuffs or no cuffs - they're a great way to update your look for fall.  You can wear them with heels now and tall boots later or my favorite - a great pair of tights and closed toe heels.  Very fun.

Layer it up for fall

I love the idea of this trend.  Take your short sleeve graphic tees or polos from summer add a long sleeve layer underneath and wear for fall.  You can't get more savvie than that.  And don't be afraid to mix things up.  Stripes underneath a solid tee or polo or maybe a ribbed henley under a knit tee.  There's definitely room to move on this one, so have fun.

How about a pair of great fitting, good look' in cords?

Here's what I'm in the market for right now.  A great pair of corduroys.  I was never a real fan before, but my sister-in-law had a pair last year from J.Crew and they were fabulous.  They were the loveliest shade of chocolate brown and she could go casual with them or dressy.  Depending on the occasion.  Thankfully, they are still around this year because I'm getting a pair for myself.
