Gap, Inc to close all Forth & Towne stores

In an effort to focus more of the attention on their Old Navy and Gap stores, Gap, Inc. has decided to close their Forth & Towne stores.  Not that the stores have been doing that horribly over the past 18 months, but after an in depth study they concluded the brand "was not demonstrating enough potential to deliver an acceptable long-term return on investment" according to a press release released by Gap, Inc.  The bad news is that's one last option for women 35 and up.  The good news if you live by a Forth & Towne you might get an opportunity to get some great stuff for a deal.

They were all glammed up for the 79th Oscar Awards

I've always wanted to throw an Oscar party.  Just never have for one reason or another.   Most of the fun though is watching the pre-Oscar show with all the fabulous looking actors walking the red carpet.  All those great looking ensembles with a few "what was she thinkings" thrown in.  A few of my favorites this year - Nicole Kidman, Helen Mirren, Gwyneth, and Reese.  Ooh la la ladies.

Another round of spring merchandise is in stores now

Starting today, a ton of stores will be showcasing their latest collections for spring.  Banana Republic's Spring 2007 Collection arrives in stores today.  Forth & Towne has new selections as well.  Ann Taylor LOFT is sporting a new line which features lots of neutral colors including brown, tan, and even camo.  Most of it is online now, but for right now, the selection in stores is much better.  Which isn't unusual for LOFT.  It seems they're website is always a bit behind.

Lucite jewelry - an easy breezy way to accessorize this spring

The big news in accessories for spring, aside from bright colors and roomier clutch bags, is lucite jewelry.  You know, those transparent plastic necklaces, bangles, and even rings that seem to popping up everywhere these days.  Well, they're definitely all the rage not to mention a super easy way to update your look for spring.  Personally, I am not a big accessories girl, but sometimes a ho hum outfit could use a little kick and this spring a little lucite might just be the ticket.

A bit of red for Valentine's Day and for later

Happy Valentine's Day everyone! And just in case you're still not sure what to wear for your big night on the town, Stacy London from 'What Not to Wear' was on the 'TODAY Show' yesterday talking about how to incorporate a little red into your look without going overboard.  Check out the entire segment online at ivillage.com.  Plus the good news is since red is all the rage for Spring '07, if you buy a bit of red for Valentine's Day you'll be able to wear it all season long.  How cool is that!

Here's one I'm not too sure about - the jumper

I am sorry, but I can't do leggings and I can't do jumpers.  Call me crazy, but these two trends are just not for me.  Luckily the leggings thing is already on its way out.  The jumpers on the other hand, which were big last fall, are still around this winter.  But how much longer, not much if you ask me.  That said; they are a comfy and easy trend to follow.  And on the right girl, a jumper layered over a tee and tights can be a fun and trendy look.    (1 comment posted)

It's a new year and a new season of The Savvies Show

That's right ladies; a new season of The Savvies Show is underway and first up is a trip to one of our favorite stores - J.Crew.  Dina and I shopped until we dropped, trying on a ton of stuff from their early spring line and now we are back to chat about what we found.  It's Episode 11 and it's going to be oh so fun. Newest look in jackets & coats - shorter sleeves

If you're looking for a fun, trendy jacket to wear this spring you'll definitely want to check out the newest style - shorter sleeves.  Not quite a full length sleeve, some are bracelet length and some a bit shorter at 3/4 length.  Both are big for spring.  And in styles from cropped or 3/4 overall length to single or double breasted and more, you're bound to find something you like.  (1 comment posted)

Forth & Towne is now taking orders by phone

If you're a fan of Forth & Towne, the newest clothing store by Gap geared toward women 35 and over, you're going to be thrilled to hear they are now taking orders by phone.  I'm sure you were hoping for a website, but unfortunately we will all have to wait a bit longer for that.  However, in the meantime they are offering a limited selection online for your viewing pleasure.  And if you see something you like......now all you have to do is call their 800 number and order it.  How cool is that.
