Another trend for summer - super cute jackets

In prints or solids with long sleeves, 3/4 sleeves or short.  Cropped or not.  These cute little jackets are all the rage for summer.  They look great with jeans, skirts, and even shorts.  J.Crew has a number of them.  So does Ann Taylor LOFT.  In fact that's where I got this fun little brocade number I'm sporting today.

Brown & white is a classic summer combination

The whole safari look is everywhere right now.  Lots of giraffe prints, shirt dresses, chunky sandals and more.  I especially love all the brown & white color combinations.  Very fun for summer.  For today's look I'm pairing my brown scoopneck sweater with my white shorts along with some super cute flat sandals for a little zip.  A chunky necklace would be the perfect finishing touch.  I guess I have some shopping to do....

Lightweight sweater dress from J.Crew

Pretty, lightweight blouses are just the ticket for summer.

Just in case you're in the market for something other than a tee for summer, I found a super cute floral blouse from Ann Taylor LOFT that I really like.  It's nice and light, perfectly girly and just right for summer.  For today's pic I've paired it with a cotton skirt & wedges for a totally work appropriate look.  LOFT actually has quite a few pretty tops in stores and online right now, so definitely check them out when you get a chance.

Great little button down shirt from Express

I must admit I don't need a ton of real formal business attire.  Normally business casual is more my look, if that.  However, it is nice to have a few pieces in your closet that can be mixed and matched with pants & skirts to create a look that is a little more work place appropriate.  This great fitting button down shirt I found at Express this weekend is perfect for just that.  Looks great under a suit jacket, paired with pants or even a skirt.  I wearing it today with a more trendy skirt I also found at Express.  Ooh la la... Shorts are still a great option for summer

Shorts have always been the go to bottoms for summer.  From shorty shorts to Bermudas there's definitely something for everyone.  The trick is finding which length and cut look best on you.  In the June 2008 issue of Glamour magazine they offer some great tips on what to look for.  According to Glamour, pear shapes should do a straight-cut Bermuda style to lengthen and slim the thighs.  For plus sizes, a longer short with no pleats works well.  And for smaller women, a shorter short is definitely the way to go.  Nothing at or below the knees please.

Madras is popping up everywhere for summer

Either you're a madras fan or you're not.  I happen to really like it, so when I found this skirt at AT LOFT I had to have it.  The color combination is great.  So is the length.  Not too short, but too long either.  Perfect for casual summer days.  I've added a pair of red wedges to dress it up a bit, but it works just as well with a cute pair of sandals or even flip flops.  Very fun.

Super fun platforms on sale now at Banana Republic

I don't know about you, but I am famous for buying a great pair of shoes and then worrying about what on earth I'll wear with them later.  Sure it can make things a bit more difficult, but when the shoes are an oh so fun pair of giraffe print platform wedges from Banana Republic it's worth it.  For today's pic I paired the shoes with a sweater I also picked up from Banana Republic and tan a-line skirt I already had in my closet.  Very fun and totally work appropriate if business casual dressing is allowed.
